Crane Finance loans are unsecured installment loans — meaning no collateral is required, and repayment is spread across multiple scheduled payments rather than a single lump sum. This distinguishes them from payday loans, which require full repayment on your next payday.

APR and Cost of Borrowing

This is a high-cost loan. Crane Finance installment loans carry a significantly higher APR than traditional bank loans, credit union loans, or credit cards. Review the full cost — including total finance charge and total of payments — before accepting any offer.

The APR on your loan is determined at the time of your application and depends on your loan amount, repayment term, and underwriting results. Your specific APR, finance charge, and total repayment amount will be clearly disclosed in your loan agreement before you e-sign — you are never required to accept.

Understanding the key numbers

  • APR (Annual Percentage Rate): The annualized cost of borrowing — useful for comparing loans but not the most intuitive figure for budgeting
  • Finance charge: The total dollar amount the loan will cost you beyond the principal — this is the most important number to review before signing
  • Total of payments: Principal + finance charge combined — what you will have paid by the final installment

For a detailed explanation of how these figures work and how to calculate your true total cost, see our guide: Understanding APR and Loan Costs.

For the full rate table with example costs at different loan amounts, visit the Interest Rates & Fees section on our homepage. We keep that table on the homepage so all rate information is in one canonical, up-to-date location.

No Prepayment Penalty

There is no prepayment penalty on any Crane Finance loan. You may pay off your loan in full at any time before the final scheduled payment date. Doing so reduces the total finance charge you pay, because interest only accrues on the outstanding principal balance.

To arrange an early payoff, contact Crane Finance at 855-321-7654 or [email protected] at least 2 business days in advance to request your exact payoff amount.

Governing Law

Crane Finance operates as an economic arm of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, a federally recognized sovereign tribe. Your loan agreement is governed by the laws of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and applicable federal law — not the laws of your home state. This means state lending laws, including state interest rate caps, do not apply to Crane Finance loans.
